JOB TITLE: Program Coordinator (Nutrition)
TEAM/PROGRAMME: Programme Implementation
LOCATION: Sittwe, Rakhine

Grade: C-1
Type of Contract: Fixed Term
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; ore because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE: To lead and manage the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the nutrition programme in Rakhine State part of the project: Emergency Assistance to Conflict Affected Populations in Myanmar that deliver immediate and lasting change for children.

SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Programme Manager (Nutrition)

Direct Reports: Project Officer (Nutrition)

External Representation: No regular contact

Travel: Minimum (up to 3 days per month)

Key accountabilities
Responsible for the timely, efficient and effective delivery of a high quality, child rights-based programme – focused on achieving sustainable changes for children, with a particular focus on the poorest and most disadvantaged children.

Programme Management
• Overall responsibility for technical quality of the regional nutrition programme.
• Provide technical guidance and capacity building support and supervision to the operations team, and local partner staff to ensure successful implementation of nutrition programme and provide opportunities for staff development
• Ensure all staff understand and implement programme protocols used in the nutrition programme
• Ensure appropriate and consistent health and nutrition education messaging to mothers and other carers in the community
• Participate in the design of new project proposals including field assessments, budget’s development, work plan and logical frameworks.
• Compile programme/ project reports as required.
• Conduct trainings to build the capacity of staff and local partners as required with special focus on Programme Officers from SCI nutrition team.
• Direct line management of nutrition team in Rakhine
• Facilitate supply requests, distribution plans, consumption reporting from the nutrition programme to the logistics department when required
• Participate in nutritional assessment planning, implementation, analysis, interpretation and reporting, as required by the Emergency Nutrition Advisor
• Liaise with other implementing partners and authorities to maximize collaboration and ensure proper coordination of activities
• Attend nutrition management and coordination meetings at Sittwe level
• Any other tasks as required by the technical advisor or Area Manager
• Understand and apply a child rights based approach.
• Ensure that the programme takes steps to counter discrimination against children (on whatever basis it may be).
• Ensure programme staff safety and security, and ensure all Save the Children policies and principles are upheld

Person specifications
• Bachelor’s degree, and preferably post-graduate university degree, in health, public health and nutrition or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated skills, experience, and knowledge in antenatal care, IYCF, CMAM project particularly OTP.
• At least four years management experience of development and/or emergency programmes in nutrition and health.
• Experience and knowledge of effective financial and budgetary control and managing grants.
• An in depth understanding of national development issues related to the thematic programme.
• Experience of managing and developing a team, and the ability to lead, motivate and develop others.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Computer literacy
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Prior clinical practice and experience is an asset
• Disseminate relevant technical advice to program staff as required
• Primary contact point with technical advisers from Save the Children Managing and Participating Member organisations.
• Ensure high quality, accessible information about the thematic programme is available for internal member.
• Representing SCI’s thematic programme to government, the UN and other international agencies, donors and bodies.
• Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
• Willingness and capability to comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to health and safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies, including the Child Safeguarding Policy
• Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.
• Ability to, and experience of, delivering training in thematic area.
• Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as assigned
• To explore opportunities for improvement to existing initiatives and providing ideas for new project to Emergency Nutrition Advisor and Area Manager.
