Job Description

TEAM/PROGRAMME: Education LOCATION: Sittwe/Pauktaw, camps or Sittwe, Rakhine
Region

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week
or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country
programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police
checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
Support the Emergency Education Prorgramme Coordinator in the overall management of the planning,
implementation, monitoring and evaluation of high quality, innovative education programs in Rakhine.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Project Officer/ Coordinator
Staff reporting to this post: Education Liaison
Budget Responsibilities: No financial approval
Role Dimensions: No regular contact
Travel to targeted area : Daily
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :
Monitoring visits and support
 Regular visit to Temporary Learning Classes (TLCs) and Non Formal Primary Education (NFPE) centers
in camps and villages to observe the classroom teaching processes and provide feedback to
teachers/facilitators
 Conduct Parents Teachers Association (PTA) meetings for maintenance and monitoring of TLCS/NFPE,
identify marginalized group of children for enrolment, regular attendance, and motivate parents and
students.
 Coordinate daily field visit plan with relevant department within organization to optimism resources.
 Coordinate joint monitoring visit of Township Education Officer/State Education Directors.
Leading trainings and mentoring coordinating
 Demonstrate teaching learning practices in classroom with teachers/facilitator.
 Participate in Training of Trainer (ToT) for KG- Grade 5 curriculum and cascade to project teachers/
facilitators
 Mentoring approx. 15-20 teachers/Facilitators to improve children’s learning outcomes/classroom
process (lesson plan, Teaching Leaning Materials, teachingmethods, assessing children progress).
 Mentoring Education Liaison to improve coordination with teachers/Facilitators, PTA members and
parents
 Assist the Emergency Education Programme Coordinator/Manager in ensuring that project inputs are
provided in a timely manner; procure/arrange for project supplies and materials as needed.
 Assist Emergency Education Programme Coordinator in coordinating with local authorities and partners
in their area of jurisdiction ( e.g., township or villages, as the case may be)
 Assist the Emergency Education Programme Coordinator/Manager in preparing township work plan
and budget estimation.
 Assist in developing training manuals and IEC materials
 Having experience in construction, to monitor in the field regularly and to manage PTAs member
or constructor.
 Arrange to support training and to prepare to Procurement Request if necessary
Develop work plans and implements
 Develop and implement TLC/NFPE development plan to improve quality learning environment.
 Develop and implement a capacity building plan for teachers/Facilitators align with teacher professional
plan/project design.
 Develop weekly/monthly visit plan and reports and share with Program Coordinator/Programme
Manager
 Responsibility for cash/kind materials disbursement (Teachers, Students recreational kits, textbooks) for
assigned project activities.
Collect data
 Conduct baseline/midline and endline while using tools e.g. Quality Learning Environment (QLE) checklist,
Teacher Competency Standards Framework (TCSF) self-appraisal and classroom observation tool of
Ministry of Education Myanmar government.
 Collect program data for operations research as needed.
Documentation & reporting
 Responsible for conducting periodic examination and maintain/track record of students performance
(attendance, learning progress) in assigned areas.
 Keep records of activities and report periodically on program progress with recommendations in a
timely manner
 Assist in documentation of process and impact of the program as needed

QUALIFICATIONS
 University degree or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
 At least (3) years in implementing for education programs development
 Demonstrated skills and experience in child rights programming
 Experience and knowledge of effective financial and budgetary controls for funds intended for area
of jurisdiction
 Strong interpersonal and community development skills
 Excellent communication skill in local language
 Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
Communication and Technical Skills
 Good English communication skills, both written and verbal
 Excellent personal organisational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and
work under pressure
 Willingness to travel to field offices and work in difficult environment according to travel requirements
 Ensure that project related information are relayed to the Project Assistants
 Prepare communication materials to partners within area of jurisdiction
