JOB TITLE: Project Officer (Psychosocial)
TEAM/PROGRAMME: Programme Implementation
LOCATION: Sittwe, Rakhine State
Number of Position: 1
Grade: D-2
Type of Contract: Fixed Term
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; ore because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE: The post holder will be responsible for the capacity building of local CSO’s in child protection with a particular focus on adolescent programming, looking at life skills, protection monitoring and vocational skills building. The post holder will also be responsible for increasing the capacity of local CSO’s in disaster preparedness.

SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Programme Coordinator

Direct Reports: Project Assistants

Financial Approval: No financial approval

External Representation: Regular contact of basic factual information

Travel: Based in the field location in Sittwe and Pauk Taw with travel to camps and communities 4 days per week.

Key accountabilities

• Selection of local CSO’s for capacity building liaising with UNOCHA and conducting verifications and checks on suitability.
• Coordination with local CSO’s and DSW to develop vocational training options and develop a referral system.
• Coordination with EiE team to develop school base child protection mechanism
• Regular supervision of the CFS and school base child protection with Project Assistant
• Conducting Training of trainers on life skills packages such as EXCEL and other youth related programming
• Follow up monitoring and support to CSO’s and animators for capacity building
• Development of mobile CFS programme and School base Child Protection mechnism in coordination with technical advisor including MEAL aspect
• Submitting regular monthly reports to supervisor and participation in monthly meetings updating on context, successes, challenges and analysis of data.
• Assist the Project Coordinator in ensuring that project inputs are provided in a timely manner ; procure/arrange for project supplies and materials as needed
• Work with team members to prepare monthly work plan and budget
• Ensure all work is in line with Child Protection Global Minimum Standards

Person specifications

• At least 3 years’ experience in child protection and adolescent programming (officer level)
• Demonstrated skills and experience in implementing child rights programming
• Experience working with children or with a child focused organisation
• Experienced as a trainer in developing competencies
• Experienced in using MEAL systems.
• Experience in networking and coordination
• Bachelor Degree (3 years + education post-secondary school). (or relevant experience working with an INGO on child protection or adolescent issues)
• Good English communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent personal organisational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
• Willingness to travel to field offices and work in difficult environment according to travel requirements
• Experience of supervision and developing performance within a team.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation developing effective working relationships to deliver outstanding results for children
• Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
• Willingness and capability to comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to health and safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies, including the Child Safeguarding Policy
